We are a group of individuals who volunteer for the sake of the young children in the South Sound area of Washington State. In 1972 a small group of volunteers founded the Olympia Association for the Education of Young Children (OLAEYC); one of our founding members, Margie Reeves, is still an active board member.
In 2002 we changed our name to reflect the geographic changes of our membership area. Our signature event is our one day Annual Regional Tapestry Conference. It is a day to bring the Early Childhood Community together; to meet, discuss, hear new ideas, and shop (in the vendor area). Our Conference has been held, for many years, at South Puget Sound Community College in collaboration with the college, Child Care Action Council, ESD 113 (clock hours), WRAP, which provides funding and trainers for our school age workshops, and the Department of Early Learning which provides conference support and scholarship funding. Participants can receive STARS training hours, .5 college credits, and/or clock hours from ESD 113 for certified teachers.
